Instagram Stories are the perfect opportunity to post more casual content throughout the day to give your audience a sneak peek into your life. 

While this content may seem unnecessary for business accounts, it is quite the opposite. 1/3rd of the most viewed Instagram stories are from businesses interacting with consumers and sharing the behind the scenes of the brand.

Businesses are using Instagram stories to create relationships with their customers all over the world, building trust and loyalty, and as a happy side effect, increasing sales.

Step 1: Creativity: Attract Your Ideal Audience When You Identify Your Core Beliefs and Vision

Using Instagram Stories for business is basically another form of communicating with your customers. 

The usual marketing rules do not apply here because you are not focused on making sales. Growing your brand is more centered around building a community that trusts your brand. 

The first step in creating this tribe is identifying your core beliefs as a business and getting clear about who you are as a brand. This step is all about your vision, not your product or service.

Write down these core beliefs, and what the image is for your business moving forward. 

Use the defined core values as the basis for your Stories. Give your audience visible proof throughout your daily life that these are values you hold to the highest standard. 

Sharing your expertise, beliefs, and vision will draw in a like minded audience who will thrive in your community and become connected to your brand. 

Now that they are here, how do you get them involved?
Step 2: Connection: Start Conversations and Don’t Stop Replying

The best way for your audience to feel connected is through conversation. While this can easily happen in posts on your feed, it is a bit more difficult in Instagram Stories to keep the attention on your message. 

Take the time to consider what your audience will want to talk about, and ask them what content they like seeing the most. 

Asking questions on your story is a great and easy way to start that initial interaction. At first, it might only be one or two DMs, but do not be discouraged. Take the time to start a conversation with those members of your tribe and reassure your audience you appreciate the feedback. 

Once those DMs start rolling in, it is easy to let them pile up and get lost in the inbox. Take action and make a conscious effort to reply to every single one. This simple act will set you apart from other big names in your tribe's mind.

Step 3: Commit: Consistency is Everything

Of course, I am saving the best step for last! Whatever direction your business goes, always stay consistent with your messaging and posting times. 

This step sounds like a no-brainer, but it takes intention to make it happen for the long haul.

Posting multiple times a day is time-consuming and energy-consuming, and as a business owner, your daily schedule can change at a moment's notice. You probably have a to-do list a mile long, plus five other things you forgot to write down. 

That is why it is essential to create a plan that works for you and stick with it. 

Gaining your audience's trust is hard work, and it is easy to lose if you start switching things up every week. Have a consistent posting schedule and consistent brand look, so they always have a familiar feeling with you, like talking to an old friend. 

Most importantly, stay consistent with sharing your core beliefs and vision as much as you can. Not everyone is going to be on your side, but those who are will be there in the long run.
